Hello, I am George behind Landscape Solutions "By George". I have been doing landscaping fence and deck construction, and other household projects for myself and friends for over 20 years. I truly enjoy helping other people make their landscape dreams come true. My business philosophy is simple: Do the job as if I were doing it for myself and do it as scheduled. In case you want to know, here is a little about me, my background, and how I started my business:
When I was 14 years old living in Memphis, Tennessee, I was invited to go to England for a month. My parents said I could go if I earned my own money to get there. So, I started cutting lawns in my neighborhood and made enough money to go to England.
After graduating from State Technical Institute in 1985 with a AS in Industrial Engineering, I continued my education at the University of Tennessee where I graduated with a BS in Industrial Business Administration in 1988. That same year I began working for ALCOA in Olive Branch, Mississippi as a Safety Coordinator. From this point forward I worked in the field of Industrial Safety, OSHA & EPA compliance, Loss prevention, and Risk Management. In my 16 years as a Safety Professional, I worked as a Safety Manager for ALCOA, as Director of Safety for Methodist Hospitals in Memphis, as a Safety Manager for Birmingham Steel, and as a Loss Prevention Manager for Hilton Hotels.
In 2001, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be with my partner and took a job as a Loss Prevention officer with DeKalb County, Georgia. Since the financial benefits of working as a county employee were less than private industry, I began designing and constructing decks and landscapes projects for our neighbors in the East Lake neighborhood. Eventually in 2004, with much encouragement from my partner, many customers, a custom home builder, and friends, I decided to leave my job with DeKalb County and start my own Landscape, Deck, and Fence design and installation company - Landscape Solutions "by George".
Five years later I know that this was one of the best professional career decisions I have ever made. My clients, both large and small, are extremely happy with the final product.
